The following water
bodies have special restrictions or regulations that differ from statewide
regulations for one or more species of fish. Anglers should keep in mind that
municipalities, national wildlife refuges and the Chickasaw National
Recreation Area (Lake Arbuckle) have the authority to set fishing regulations
on waters in their jurisdiction that may differ from either the statewide
regulations listed on page 9 or the individual lake regulations listed below.
Some methods of fishing on the Oklahoma portion of Lake Texoma do not apply
to the Texas portion. Check the Texas Fishing Guide for details. It is the
anglers responsibility to know what regulations apply to the body of water
they are fishing.
***Spotted bass: for the purpose of
identification, any black bass, except smallmouth, having a rough tooth patch
on its tongue is considered a spotted bass. ****
LAKES IN THE NORTHEAST
Adair Recreation Area and Greenleaf -
All black bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag
limit of six (6). Channel and blue catfish have a combined daily bag limit of
six (6); no size limit.
Arcadia - All black bass have a 22-inch
minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of three (3).
Birch - All black bass have a 13- to
16-inch protected slot limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6).
Striped bass hybrids and/or white bass have a combined daily bag limit of
twenty (20), of which only five(5) may be twenty (20) inches or longer.
Carl Blackwell - All black bass have a
14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). Striped
bass hybrids and/or white bass have a combined daily bag limit of twenty
(20), of which only five (5) may be twenty (20) inches or longer.
Chimney Rock - All black bass have a
13- to 16-inch protected slot limit and a combined daily bag limit of six
(6).
Chouteau, Copan, Heyburn, Kaw, Keystone,
McClellan- Kerr Navigation System (includes oxbows and cutoffs), Newt Graham,
Robert S. Kerr, Taft, W.D. Mayo, and Webbers Falls - All black
bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six
(6).
Draper - *NEW IN 2002* - All black bass
have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6).
Dripping Springs - All black bass have
a 16- to 22-inch protected slot limit and a combined daily bag limit of six
(6), only one may be 22-inches or longer.
Ft. Gibson (includes all tributaries
and upstream to Markham Ferry dam) - All black bass have a 14-inch minimum
size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). All crappie have a
10-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of fifteen (15).
Grand (includes all tributaries and
upstream to state line) - All black bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit
and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). All crappie have a 10-inch minimum
size limit and a combined daily bag limit of fifteen (15). Striped bass
hybrids and/or white bass have a combined daily bag limit of twenty (20), of
which only five (5) may be twenty (20) inches or longer; also applies to the
area below Pensacola dam downstream to SH 82 bridge.
Hefner - *NEW IN 2002* - Largemouth and
spotted bass have 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit
of six (6). All smallmouth bass have an 18-inch minimum size limit and a
daily bag limit of one (1) fish 18-inches or longer.
Hudson - All black bass have a 14-inch
minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). All crappie
have a 10-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of fifteen
(15).
Lone Chimney - All black bass have a
13- to 16-inch protected slot limit and a combined daily bag limit of six
(6).
Okmulgee - All black bass have a 13- to
16-inch protected slot limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6).
Oologah - All black bass have a 14-inch
minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). Striped bass
hybrids and/or white bass have a combined daily bag limit of twenty (20), of
which only five (5) may be twenty (20) inches or longer (covers all
tributaries to state line and downstream below dam to mouth of Caney River).
Overholser (includes tailwaters and
downstream to NW 10th St. bridge) - *NEW IN 2002* - All black bass have a
14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6).
Skiatook - Largemouth and smallmouth
bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six
(6). Spotted (Kentucky) bass have no size limit and a daily bag limit of
fifteen (15). Striped bass hybrids and/or white bass have a combined daily
bag limit of five (5), of which only two (2) may be 25-inches or longer.
Sooner - All black bass have a 14-inch
minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). Striped bass,
striped bass hybrids and/or white bass have a combined daily bag limit of
five (5) in the buoy marked discharge area only; no size limits apply. We
asked for a volunteer program on a 5 fish limit for the whole lake! Do to the
extreme absence of large fish!
Tenkiller (downstream from Horseshoe
Bend boat ramp to dam) - Largemouth and smallmouth bass have a 13- to 16-inch
slot size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). Spotted (Kentucky)
bass have no size limit and a daily bag limit of fifteen (15). All crappie
have a 10-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of fifteen
(15) and also includes the tailwaters below the dam.
LAKES IN THE NORTHWEST
American Horse, Elmer, Evans Chambers, Vincent,
Watonga - All black bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a
combined daily bag limit of six (6). Channel and blue catfish have a combined
daily bag limit of six (6); no size limits apply.
Canton - Striped bass hybrids and/or
white bass have a combined daily bag limit of twenty (20), of which only five
(5) may be twenty (20) inches or longer; this covers the lake, upstream to SH
281 and the tailwaters below the dam.
Carl Etling - All black bass have a
14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). Channel
and blue catfish have a combined daily bag limit of six (6); no size limits
apply. Striped bass hybrids have a daily bag limit of five (5); no size limit
applies.
Foss - All black bass have a 14-inch
minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). Walleye and
saugeye have a 16-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of
five (5). Striped bass hybrids and/or white bass have a combined daily bag
limit of twenty (20), of which only five (5) may be twenty (20) inches or
longer (includes tailwaters).
Ft. Supply (includes lake and
tailwaters) - Striped bass hybrids and/or white bass have a combined daily
bag limit of twenty (20), of which only five (5) may be twenty (20) inches or
longer.
Great Salt Plains (includes lake and
tailwaters) - Walleye, sauger and saugeye have a combined daily bag limit of
five (5); no size limits apply. Striped bass, striped bass hybrids and/or
white bass have a combined daily bag limit of twenty (20), of which only five
(5) may be twenty (20) inches or longer.
Optima - All black bass have a 14-inch
minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). Striped bass
hybrids and/or white bass have a combined daily bag limit of five (5); no
size limits apply.
US Forest Service Lakes (Black Kettle, Skipout,
Spring Creek) - Channel and blue catfish have a combined daily bag
limit of six (6); no size limits apply.
LAKES IN THE SOUTHEAST
Arbuckle - All black bass have a 13- to
16-inch protected slot limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). All
crappie have a 10-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of
fifteen (15).
Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area
- All black bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily
bag limit of six (6). Channel and blue catfish have a combined daily bag
limit of six (6); no size limits apply. All crappie have a combined daily bag
limit of six (6); no size limits apply.
Broken Bow (from the slab at the
Narrows downstream to the dam) - Largemouth and smallmouth bass have a 13- to
16-inch slot size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). Spotted
(Kentucky) bass have no size limit and a daily bag limit of fifteen (15).
Carl Albert, Eufaula, Hugo, Sardis and Thunderbird
- All black bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined
daily bag limit of six (6).
Dahlgren, Ozzie Cobb, Schooler and Wayne Wallace
- All black bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag
limit of six (6). Channel and blue catfish have a combined daily bag limit of
six (6); no size limits apply.
Konawa - All black bass have a 16- to
22-inch protected slot limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6), of
which only one may be 22-inches or longer. Striped bass hybrids and/or white
bass have a combined daily bag limit of twenty (20), of which only five (5)
may be twenty (20) inches or longer.
McGee Creek - All black bass have a 16-
to 22-inch protected slot limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6), of
which only one may be 22-inches or longer.
Nanih Waiya and Raymond Gary - All
black bass have a 16- to 22-inch protected slot limit and a combined daily
bag limit of six (6) of which only one may be 22-inches or longer. Channel
and blue catfish have a combined daily bag limit of six (6); no size limits
apply.
Ouachita National Forest ponds and lakes
- All black bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag
limit of six (6). Channel and blue catfish have a combined daily bag limit of
six (6); no size limits apply.
Pine Creek - *NEW IN 2002*- Largemouth
and smallmouth bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily
bag limit of six (6). Spotted (Kentucky) bass have no size limit and a daily
bag limit of fifteen (15).
Texoma - All black bass have a 14-inch
minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of five (5). Striped bass
and striped bass hybrids have a combined daily bag limit of ten (10), of
which only two (2) may be 20-inches or longer. White bass daily bag limit is
twenty-five (25); no size limit applies. Channel and blue catfish have a
12-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of fifteen (15).
All crappie have a 10-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit
of 37. Flathead catfish have a twenty (20) inch minimum size limit and a
daily bag limit of five (5).
Wister (from the dam upstream to US
Highway 271 on Fouche Maline, to US Highway 59 on the Poteau and to the low
water dam, 1/2 mile above country road # 156 on Holson Creek - All black bass
have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6).
LAKES IN THE SOUTHWEST
Altus - Lugert, Tom Steed and Waurika -
All black bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag
limit of six (6). Striped bass hybrids and/or white bass have a combined
daily bag limit of twenty (20), of which only five (5) may be twenty (20)
inches or longer.
Burtschi and Jap Beaver - All black
bass have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six
(6). Channel and blue catfish have a combined daily bag limit of six (6); no
size limits apply.
Crowder - All black bass have a 16 to
22-inch protected slot limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6), of
which only one may be 22-inches or longer. Channel and blue catfish have a
combined daily bag limit of six (6); no size limits apply.
Ellsworth and Lawtonka - Walleye,
sauger and saugeye have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag
limit of five (5).
Elmer Thomas (Wichita Mtns. NWR) -
Largemouth and smallmouth bass have a 13 to 16-inch slot size limit and a
combined daily bag limit of six (6). Spotted (Kentucky) bass have no size
limit and a daily bag limit of six (6). Channel and blue catfish have a
combined daily bag limit of six (6); no size limits apply.
Ft. Cobb - All black bass have a
14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6). *NEW IN
2002* - Walleye, sauger and saugeye have a 14-inch minimum size limit and a
combined daily bag limit of five (5). Striped bass hybrids and/or white bass
have a combined daily bag limit of twenty (20), of which only five (5) may be
twenty (20) inches or longer.
Hall and Vanderwork - All black bass
have a 13 to 16-inch protected slot limit and a combined daily bag limit of
six (6). Channel and blue catfish have a combined daily bag limit of six (6);
no size limits apply.
OTHER WATERS WITH SPECIAL DAILY BAG AND SIZE LIMITS
Ponds and streams within the following Dept. of Wildlife Management Areas:
Atoka, Beaver River, Gary Sherrer, Gruber / Cherokee, Cookson, Ellis Co., Ft.
Gibson, James Collins, Lexington, Okmulgee (except in Deep Fork River),
Pushmataha, Robbers Cave, Sandy Sanders and Stringtown - All black bass have
a 14-inch minimum size limit and a combined daily bag limit of six (6).
Channel and blue catfish have a combined daily bag limit of six (6); no size
limits apply.
Ponds and streams within other Dept.
Wildlife Management Areas not listed above - Channel and blue catfish have a
combined daily bag limit of six (6); no size limits apply.
Oklahoma State Park ponds stocked by the
Department ( not listed separately above) - Channel and blue
catfish have a combined daily bag limit of six (6); no size limits apply.
OKC Close to Home fishing waters -
*NEW IN 2002* - All black bass caught must be released (returned to the
water) immediately after being taken; no harvest allowed. Channel and blue
catfish have a combined daily bag limit of six (6); no size limits apply.
Mountain Fork River trout stream (below
Broken Bow dam) - *NEW IN 2002* - The 20-inch minimum size limit on rainbow
trout applies only to that portion of the trout stream from the state park
dam downstream to the reregulation dam (Zone II). Possession of any trout
less than 20-inches in size while fishing in Zone II is prohibited. The daily
bag limit is one (1) rainbow trout 20-inches or longer. In Zone III, no size
limit applies to rainbow trout. The 20-inch minimum size limit on brown trout
remains unchanged throughout the entire trout stream.
Red River (below Denison dam) - Striped
bass and/or striped bass hybrids have a combined daily bag limit of five (5);
no size limit applies.
Wichita Mtns. NWR lakes (not listed
separately above) - Channel and blue catfish have a combined daily bag limit
of six (6); no size limits apply.
