FISHING REPORT FOR APRIL 12, 2006
CENTRAL
Draper: Elevation 2 ft. above normal and clear.
Largemouth bass good around structure in coves. Crappie good to fair at 2-6
ft. on minnows around structure. Report submitted by Tony Woodruff, game
warden stationed in Cleveland County.
Hefner: Water 58. Channel catfish good on long poles
with shad on bottom. Crappie slow. Walleye good on curly tail jigs and
rooster tails around the restaurant on the east side of the lake. Report
submitted by Bob Martin, OKC Fisheries.
Thunderbird: Elevation 5 ft. below normal, water 53
and clear. Crappie good on minnows and green jigs at 2-6 ft. around
structure. White bass fair to good on jigs, minnows and medium-diving
crankbaits. Largemouth bass fair to good in coves with structure on tandem
spinners, medium-diving crankbaits and minnows. Report submitted by Tony

Wes Watkins: Elevation 5 ft. below normal, water
54-66 and clear. White bass fair to good on crankbaits while trolling
shallow water along shoreline. Catfish fair on shrimp, chicken liver, blood
baits, minnows and cut bait in deeper water along the main lake channel and
around dam tower area and back west in timbered area. Crappie are being
caught on minnows and jigs around brush piles and structure. Largemouth bass
fair on spinnerbaits, lizard, pig and jig on the west end of the lake.

NORTHEAST
Copan: Elevation below normal and clear. Crappie good
using medium minnows and light-colored jigs around Copan Point and Cotton
Creek at 3-6 ft. Report submitted by Jason Cain, Copan Handi Mart.
Eucha: Elevation 11 ft. below normal, water 52 and
murky. Crappie fair on jigs and minnows around brush and structure on lower
end of the lake. Largemouth fair on spinnerbaits off rocky points. Report

Grand: Elevation below normal and clear. Channel
catfish fair on cut shad at 15 ft. around brush piles. Crappie fair to good
on minnows and jigs at 15 ft. around brush piles. Report submitted by Jim

Greenleaf: Water clear. Largemouth bass fair on
spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Catfish fair on bottom on cut bait. Crappie
good on minnows and jigs around fishing dock and around brush structure.

Hudson: Elevation 1 1/2 ft. below normal. Largemouth
bass good on crankbaits. White bass good on live shad and small crankbaits.
Blue catfish good on shad in river channels. Report submitted by Steve

Kaw: Elevation 1 ft. above normal, water 52 and
clear. Blue catfish good in northern end of the lake at 5-10 ft. on jugs and
rod and reel with cut shad and worms and fair in the tailwaters on shad and
small minnows. Channel catfish are being caught on stink bait and worms.
White bass fair below the dam on 1/16th and 1/8th ounce jigs and minnows.
Paddlefish snagging has been poor in the tailwaters due to the lack of water

Keystone: Elevation 3 ft. below normal, water clear
to murky. Largemouth bass good on spinnerbaits and crankbaits at 4-8 ft.
midway to bank in coves. Smallmouth bass fair on crankbaits and jig and
chunk at 5-10ft. in mouth of coves. White bass good on minnows and road
runners at 3-8 ft. in creeks and river channels. Striped bass good on
bucktails and jerk baits at 3-6 ft. below the dam. Channel catfish good on
worms and shrimp at 6-10 ft. in coves and creeks. Blue catfish good on large
minnows and cut shad at 8-15 ft. in mouths of rocky coves. Crappie excellent
on minnows and jigs at 2-6 ft. in shallow coves. Walleye slow on large
minnows, grubs and jigs at 4-8 ft. in the river below the dam. Paddlefish
fair snagging at 8-15 ft. in upper lake channels. Report submitted by Larry

Oologah: Elevation 2 ft. below normal, water 60 and
clear. Crappie good on minnows and jigs along rocky banks at 4-8 ft. Blue
and channel catfish fair on shad on flats near the creek channels at 10-15
ft. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits at 4-8 ft. White bass fair on jigs
in the Verdigris River in the Big Creek area. Report submitted by Brek

Skiatook: Elevation 7 ft. below normal, water 58 and
clearing. Striped bass hybrids fair in creeks and off points. Catfish fair
on trotlines with sunfish and very large minnows. Smallmouth and largemouth
bass fair on crankbaits, spinnerbaits and some plastics, in creeks and off
points above deeper structure. Crappie good on small and medium minnows at
15-25 ft. around Highway 20 bridge and other structure, and in the creeks.
Look for steep drop-off in creeks. Report submitted by Greenwood Fishing

Spavinaw: Elevation 5 ft. below normal, water 57 and
clear. Crappie fair on jigs and minnows around the dam area. Largemouth fair

Tenkiller: Elevation 9 1/2 ft. below normal, water
58. Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass fair in coves on spinnerbaits
and crankbaits. Crappie fair mid-lake to upper end trolling the channel and
on minnows or jigs shallow in the upper end. White bass fair mid-lake
trolling and good in the upper end on jigs or spinners. Report submitted by

Webbers Falls: Elevation 1 ft. below normal and
murky. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits along riprap. Catfish good on
cut bait on bottom. Crappie good on minnows and jigs around structure and

NORTHWEST
Canton: Elevation slightly above normal. Walleye fair
along dam after sundown on jigs and crankbaits. White bass excellent along
dam late afternoon and early evening on jigs and crankbaits. Channel catfish
good in upper end of lake on cut bait and minnows. Crappie good in upper end
of lake on jigs and minnows. Report submitted by Mark Walker, game warden

SOUTHEAST
Blue River: Elevation normal, water 65 and clear.
Largemouth bass fair on minnows and flies. Catfish fair on liver and worms.
Trout slow. Report submitted by Charles Baker, technician at Blue River
Public Fishing and Hunting Area.
Broken Bow: Elevation 10-12 ft. below normal, water
50 and clear. Largemouth bass good on spinnerbaits in the mouths of creeks.
White bass good on white and yellow grubs and rooster tails along Panther
Creek. Crappie good on minnows and jigs around structure and in the
upper-end of Holley Creek. Walleye good on rouges late evening and early
morning in the upper end of Holley Creek. Report submitted by Dru Polk, game

Eufaula: Elevation 6 ft. below normal and clear.
Largemouth bass good on jerk baits at 2-8 ft. around rocks. White bass slow.
Blue catfish good on shad at 5-10 ft. on the flats. Crappie good on minnows
at 1-8 ft. along the banks. Report submitted Ed Rodebush, game warden
stationed in McIntosh County.
Hugo: Elevation 1 ft. above normal water 60 and
murky. Largemouth bass fair on soft plastic lures and crankbaits. Crappie
good on live minnows and light colored jigs. Channel catfish fair on cut
bait and liver. Report submitted by Wendell Smalling, game warden stationed
in Choctaw County.
Konawa: Elevation normal, water 64 and clear.
Largemouth bass good on plastic worms around weed beds at 4-8 ft. Channel
catfish good on chicken liver at 15 ft. in discharge channel. Report
submitted by Daryl Howser, game warden stationed in Seminole County.
Lower Mountain Fork River: Trout in zone 2 is
sporadic. Zone 1 has been relatively good. The Powerhouse has been
generating for a few hours each day in the late afternoon. Report submitted

McGee Creek: Elevation 1 1/2 ft. below normal, water
60 and clear. Largemouth bass good on soft plastic lures at 2-6 ft. around
standing timber. White bass fair on sassy shad in open water. Channel
catfish fair on juglines with live bait. Report submitted by Larry Luman,
game warden stationed in Atoka County.
Pine Creek: Elevation above normal, water clear.
Crappie good around the banks at 3-6 ft. Bass good on soft plastics at 6-
ft. Catfish fair on cut bait around brush. Report Submitted by Mark Hannah,
game warden stationed in McCurtain County.
Robert S. Kerr: Elevation normal, water 67 and
stained. Largemouth bass good at 2-6 ft. using plastic baits and
spinnerbaits fishing the weed, rock and woody cover along the banks. Crappie
good at 2-3 ft. using minnows fishing the spawning areas around the lake.
White bass good at 6-8 ft. using shad imitation lures fishing the mouth of
the Illinois River and below Webbers Falls and Kerr dams. Blue catfish fair
at 5-8 ft. using fresh cut shad fishing from the bank on the windy points.
Flathead catfish fair at 20 ft. using live bait on juglines and trotlines.

Sardis Lake: Elevation normal. White bass good in
Jack Fork Creek. Crappie good on minnows around bridges and tower. Report

Texoma: Elevation 1 ft. below normal, water 59 and
clear to the south and murky to the north. Largemouth bass fair to good on
plastic baits at 10-15 ft. in creek channels. White bass and striped bass
good on sassy shad and slabs at 15-21 ft. in Platter Flats. Catfish fair to
good on power bait at 5-10 ft. in Washita River arm. Crappie fair to good on
minnows and jigs at 5-10 ft. around structure. Report submitted by Danny

Wister: Elevation normal, water 61 and murky. Crappie
good off the banks on minnows at 3-4 ft. Largemouth bass good on soft
plastics at 2- 5 ft. White bass fair on rattletraps and wide variety of
lures in the creeks and river. Blue catfish fair on trotlines baited with
cut bait at 6-12 ft. Report submitted by D.G. Belcher, game warden stationed
in Latimer County.
SOUTHWEST
Altus-Lugert: Elevation 14 ft. below normal and
murky. North shore boat ramp is high and dry. Crappie have been biting on
minnows. Striped bass hybrid are being caught off the swim beach. Report

Ellsworth: Elevation 10 ft. below normal, water 52
and murky. Crappie good at Ralph's Resort around boat houses and fishing
docks at 4-6 ft. on minnows and jigs. Catfish fair off points with cut bait.

Ft. Cobb: Elevation 3/4 ft. above normal. Crappie
slow to fair on minnows and jigs around structure. White bass slow to fair
in creeks. Striped bass hybrids slow to fair off windy points. Catfish slow

Tom Steed: Elevation 5 ft. below normal, water 54 and
murky. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 6-10 ft. near rocks. White bass
fair trolling or with jigs near old highway. Report submitted by David

Waurika: Elevation below normal, water 61 and murky.
White bass and striped bass hybrids good on jigs. Crappie good on jigs.
