FISHING REPORT FOR MARCH 15, 2006

CENTRAL

Wes Watkins: Elevation 5 1/2 ft. below normal, water 45-53 and clear. Catfish good on chicken livers, shrimp, cut bait, minnows and blood baits deep in lake channel and back west in timbered areas and around dam tower; white bass fair to good on crankbaits trolling at 7-10 ft. and in shallow water if north creek area and along dam riprap; largemouth bass fair on assorted soft plastics with some action on spinnerbaits in orange and chartreuse. NORTHEAST

Birch: Elevation 6 ft. below normal, water 40 and clear. White bass good in the creek channel on sassy shad; crappie good on brush piles using minnows and jigs; largemouth bass fair around the coves especially in the western edge of the lake. Report submitted by Ben Bickerstaff, game warden stationed in Osage County.

Copan: Elevation below normal and clear. Crappie good at Cotton Creek and on the lakeside of the dam on medium shiners and minnows at shallow depths. Report submitted by Jason Cain, Copan Handi Mart.

Eucha: Elevation 11 ft. below normal, water 50 and clear. Crappie fair on jigs and minnows around brush and structure on lower end of the lake; largemouth fair on rogues. Report submitted by Dwight Moore, City of Tulsa Fisheries.

Grand: Elevation below normal and clear. White bass good on spinnerbaits in the tributaries of upper creek channels; channel catfish fair to good on cut shad at 30 ft. in river channels; crappie fair on minnows ore jigs around brush piles; paddlefish fair at 30-40 ft. around Sailboat Bridge. Greenleaf: Elevation 1 ft. below normal and clear. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits and crankbaits along shoreline; catfish fair on cut bait on bottom; crappie good on jigs and minnows around fishing docks and brush structure. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

Hudson: Elevation 6 ft. below normal and clear. Largemouth bass fair to good on crankbaits off points. White bass good on sassy shad and small crankbaits in the upper end of the lake; crappie good on minnows and small jigs at 2-8 ft. in the cove. Keystone: Elevation 4 ft. below normal, water clear to murky. Largemouth bass fair on jig and chunk and spinnerbaits at 3-6 ft. in shallow coves; smallmouth bass fair on small jig and chunk at 6-10 ft. in deep coves; spotted bass fair on suspended baits at 6-10 ft. in main lake; white bass good on road runners and rooster tails at 4-8 ft. in creeks and river channels; striped bass good on jerk baits and sassy shad at 3-6 ft. below dam; channel catfish fair on worms and shrimp at 5-10 ft. in shallow coves; blue catfish good on shad and large minnows at 15-30 ft. around humps and river ledges; flathead catfish fair on shad at 15-20 ft. off steep banks; crappie good on jigs or minnows at 5-15 ft. in shallow coves around brush piles and docks; walleye and saugeye fair on jigs and minnows at 4-8 ft. below river dam. Lower Illinois River: Trout good to excellent in most parts of the stream; saugeye and stripers fair in the deeper water. Report submitted by Ryan Callison, Gore.

Oologah: Elevation 1 ft. below normal, water 50 and clear. White bass fair in Verdigris River on north end of the lake; crappie fair on minnows and jigs around brush piles at 10-15 ft. from Spencer Creek area north up the lake. Report submitted by Brek Henry, game warden stationed in Rogers County.

Skiatook: Elevation 6 3/4 ft. below normal, water 52 and clear. Striped bass hybrids fair to good off points and in mouths of creeks. Watch for the shad to be working. Smallmouth and largemouth bass fair to good on crankbaits at 15-25 ft. in creeks and off points above deeper structure; crappie good on small and medium minnows at 15-25 ft. around Highway 20 bridge and other structure, and in the creeks. Look for steep drop-off in creeks. Catfish fair on trotlines with blood baits, perch and very large minnows. Report submitted by Greenwood Fishing Center.

Spavinaw: Elevation 4 ft. below normal, water 52 and clear. Crappie fair on jigs and minnows around the dam area; largemouth fair on spinnerbaits. Report submitted by Dwight Moore, City of Tulsa Fisheries.

Tenkiller: Elevation 11 1/2 ft. below normal, water 53 and steady. Smallmouth bass and spotted bass fair off points at 15 ft. hitting bass type jigs; white bass fair upper end off points on spoons or inline spinners; catfish fair on flip flops in the main channel using shad. Webbers Falls: Elevation 1 ft. below and murky. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits along riprap; catfish good on cut bait on bottom; crappie good on minnows and jigs along shoreline. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

NORTHWEST

Canton: Elevation 1 ft. below normal. Walleye good along the dam after sundown; white bass and striped bass hybrids good along the dam on jigs, crankbaits and live bait. Report submitted by Mark Walker, game warden stationed in Blaine County.

Great Salt Plains: Channel catfish are being caught in the spillway and Coon Hollow areas on cut shad. Report submitted by R. C. Wilson, Jr.

SOUTHEAST

Arbuckle: Elevation 4 ft. below normal, water 52. Crappie good on docks and brush piles; white bass under gulls up creeks; bass slow to good at times on tubes, crankbaits, spinnerbaits and jig and pig. Report submitted by Jack Melton.

Blue River: Elevation normal, water 58 and clear. Largemouth bass fair on minnows and flies; catfish fair on liver and worms; trout fair to good on super dupers, rooster tails and power baits. Report submitted by Charles Baker, technician at Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area.

Eufaula: Elevation 6 1/2 ft. below normal and clear. Largemouth bass and smallmouth bass good on jerk baits at 4-10 ft. around rocks; blue catfish good on shad at 3-10 ft. on the flats; crappie good on jigs at 8-20 ft. around boat docks. Report submitted Ed Rodebush, game warden stationed in McIntosh County.

Hugo: Elevation 3 ft. below normal, water 52 and murky. Largemouth bass fair on spinnerbaits and plastic grubs; crappie fair on minnows; channel catfish fair on liver. Report submitted by Wendell Smalling, game warden stationed in Choctaw County.

Konawa: Elevation normal, water 60 and clear. Largemouth bass good on plastic worms along points at 5-10 ft. White bass and hybrid striped bass good on minnows and jigs in discharge channel at 15 ft.; channel catfish good on chicken liver in discharge channel at 15 ft. McGee Creek: Elevation 4 ft. below normal, water 51 and clear. Largemouth bass fair to good on soft plastic lures at 6-14 ft.; white bass fair on spinners and sassy shad. Report submitted by Larry Luman, game warden stationed in Atoka County.

Lower Mountain Fork River: Trout fair on caddis and mayflies and midges. Report submitted by Sid and Peggy, Beavers Bend Fly Shop.

Pine Creek: Elevation below normal and clear. Bass good on red spinnerbaits slow rolled around rocky points and structures; catfish good on night crawlers in creek channels; crappie fair on minnows in submerged timber; white bass good up river on white grubs and rooster tails. Report Submitted by Mark Hannah, game warden stationed in McCurtain County.

Robert S. Kerr: Elevation normal, water 58 and clear. Largemouth bass fair at 5-8 ft. using spinnerbaits and crankbaits fishing the weeds, rock and woody structure; crappie good at 10 ft. using minnows fishing the old creek channels; white bass good using shad-imitation lures fishing up in the major creeks and below Webbers Falls and Kerr dams; blue catfish fair at 10-15 ft. fishing the windy points and river channels. Texoma: Elevation 2 ft. below normal, water 51 and clear. Largemouth bass fair on plastic baits at 10-15 ft. in creek channels; white bass and striped bass good on slabs at 15-20 ft. in West Burns Run; catfish fair on power bait at 10-15 ft. in Washita River Arm; crappie fair to good on minnows and jigs at 5-10 ft. in Rock Creek. SOUTHWEST

Ellsworth: Elevation 10 ft. below normal and murky. Catfish fair on cut bait off rocky points; crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 6-10 ft. Report submitted by Mike Carroll, game warden stationed in Comanche County.

Tom Steed: Elevation 5 ft. below normal, water 54 and murky. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs around rocks and brush. Report submitted by David Smith, game warden stationed in Kiowa County.

Waurika: Elevation below normal, water 54 and murky. White bass and striped bass hybrids fair on white grubs and white sassy shad; channel catfish good on cut shad and minnows on bottom; crappie fair on minnows and jigs around Walker Creek.
